Description
Deutsch: Johann André (1741–799) Komponist, Musikverleger zu Offenbach am Main. Seine erste selbstverfasste Operette "Der Töpfer" (1773) regte Goethe zu der Dichtung seines Singspiels "Erwin und Elmire" an; die Vertonung übertrug er André. Das Werk errang zunächst in Frankfurt, später in Berlin, wo André von 177-1784 als Kapellmeister am Döbbelinschen Theater wirkte, einen außergewöhnlichen Erfolg. Goethe besuchte den Komponisten am 17. Mai 1778 bei seinem einzigen Aufenthalt in der preußischen Residenz; diese persönliche Begegnung bedeutete zugleich den Abschluss der Beziehungen zu André.
