Summary

Description

NPS/Patrick Myers

Great Sand Dunes is an important place in the traditional homeland of the Jicarilla Apache people. On July 13, 2019, members of the tribe set up a tipi beside the visitor center, told stories, demonstrated crafts, and danced at the park amphitheater. The Jicarilla Apache people have an enduring relationship with Great Sand Dunes and the National Park Service. It was an honor to have them in the park for this special event!
