English: The Saffron flag of the Maratha Empire. It is known as Zhenda in Marathi, and Jhandi झन्डी(Hindi), Dhwaj ध्वज, Bhagwa-Dhwaj भग्व ध्वज or Kesri केसरी. It has been passed down from various empires since pre-Vedic eras. There are two version of the saffron flag. The single pennant flag hoisted on temples in northern India and two pennants flag, represented the Maratha Empire. As of today, any Saffron Flag in the Indian Subcontinent usually indicates a Hindu/Sikh Dominion. Although, there were many other flags of Hindu kingdoms and empires, this particular color commonly represented as Hindu. This flag is now adopted by some Hindu organizations and Indian nationalist political parties of India. The flag also represented the Bhonsaleclan of Marathas and was officially taken as a flag of the Maratha Empire after the coronation of Shivaji. I am the author of this flag (This flag is designed and created by me using Graphic Design software in 2003).
