Notes

Equestrian portrait of Henri IV, full-length, turned to right, on walking horse; the king wears a suit of armour and in his right hand holds the baton which he rests on his hip; his horse tramples various pieces or armour and weapons.

This print was either a model for, or a copy of, a plate engraved by Gaultier in 1609 (IFF 167); for impression of Gaultier plate see 1848,0911.611. Either Gaultier's or Haelbeck's plate was reproduced by Charles Turner in 1814
