Description
English: This "portrait" is of Mary Magdalene, meditating on a skull. After the deaths of Peter Paul Rubens (1640) and Anthony van Dyck (1641), there remained several fine history painters in Antwerp such as Boeckhorst. This work should possibly be attributed to Jan Cossiers: See discussion of the Mary Magdalene at the Netherlands Institute for Art History site
