Description
This is a digital image found at [1], which reproduces the image and a copy of JAMES SOWERBY, HIS PUBLICATIONS AND COLLECTIONS Lawrence H. Conklin, an article that appeared in Mineralogical Record, volume 26, July-August, 1995. Mr. James Sowerby, illustrator and biologist, is depicted by Mr. Heaphy, artist, as seated with his documents, apparatus and a famous specimen known as described as the Yorkshire meteorite.

Source/Photographer The full size image contained at that article is found at but contains a caption that was removed. The caption described the painting, credits it to Thomas Heaphy at 1816 and grants courtesy to Mrs Sowerby. So do I, however, it is determined to be in the public domain
