Notizie storico critiche: "La lastra rappresenta il ritratto di Isabella di Capua, moglie di Ferrante I Gonzaga, signore di Guastalla. L'opera, proveniente dal castello di Ambras ad Innsbruck, è conservata al Kunsthistorisches Museum di Vienna e fa parte della serie di ritratti gonzagheschi nella collezione dell'arciduca Ferdinando d'Austria, governatore del Tirolo, che nel 1582 sposò Anna Caterina Gonzaga, figlia del duca di Mantova Vincenzo I. L'opera fu esposta alla Mostra iconografica gonzaghesca del 1937. L'immagine non è pubblicata nel catalogo della mostra, ma lo scatto è stato probabilmente eseguito in questa occasione, come confermato anche dall'iscrizione manoscritta sulla lastra con il numero di catalogo: cfr. Mostra iconografica gonzaghesca, Catalogo delle opere, Mantova, Palazzo Ducale, 16 maggio-19 settembre 1937, Mantova, Tip. L'Artistica, 1937, p. 83, n. cat. 366, "di derivazione da un originale forse di Sebastiano del Piombo".
