Summary

Description
English: A carpool lane sign on Interstate 405 northbound in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. Before 2020, the California Department of Transportation traditionally preferred to use the term "carpool" in lieu of the federally-preferred terms "high-occupancy lane" or "HOV." Since 2020, Caltrans has begun to install "HOV lane" signs, but many legacy "carpool lane" signs remain in place such as the one depicted. Photographed by user Coolcaesar on April 18, 2021.
