English: The building is located on Willow Street, Newport, Rhode Island was commissioned in 1862 by the Trustees of the Long Wharf. In 1906, the building was renamed "Callender School" to commemorate the bicentennial of the birth of John Callender. The Callander School is located in the Point district, designated on The National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in Newport, Rhode, Island.
In 1981, the interior of historic Callender School (1862) building, locate on Willow Street in Newport Rhode Island, was redesigned into six residences by American architect George Ranalli. The original interior stair was restored. Callander School is listed on The National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).
