Summary

Description
English: Early induction heating apparatus built by Dr. Harvey Rentschler, Westinghouse Corp., in 1927. It consists of a high frequency vacuum tube electronic oscillator in background which generates a radio frequency alternating current through the coil. The coil creates an alternating magnetic field in the sample metal in the bulb. The magnetic field induces circular electric currents called eddy currents within the sample by electromagnetic induction. The eddy currents, flowing through the electrical resistance of the material, heat the sample by Joule heating, melting it. Dr. Rentschler
