English: The Indian Navy, formerly called the Bombay Marine, was the naval arm of the East India Company. During the Indian Mutiny (1857-59) the heavy guns of the Naval Brigade played an important part in the relief of British forces beseiged at Lucknow and Delhi. The Indian Navy was abolished in 1863 after the demise of Company rule.
