to illustrate an article about a visual work of (intangible) art mentioned specifically in the article. The work was defined by its participatory nature; this cheque is about the only remaining artifact from the whole series of performances. I haven't been able to find a colour photo of the multiple. |

- The article is of a visual work, and benefits greatly from the image, needed to define and illustrate the theatrical ritual, and parody of the capitalist system, implicit in the performance.
- The work is one of the most famous pieces of performance art ever produced, and of historic significance. The only traces it has left behind are photos of the burning and the remaining cheques. As such, this photo is essential to define the works parameters as an artist's multiple.
- In keeping with the policy of wikipedia, it is believed that a low resolution image for educative and illustrative purpose, concerning a visual work of art discussed specifically in the article, is acceptable fair use.
