DeButts says he and his wife,Trudie, whom he married in 1939,didnt mind moving all over theeastern seaboard, but it was a prob-lem at times when their two daugh-ters, Talbot and Mary Linda (nowMrs. Tyler Cain and Mrs. R. CollinsCouch), were in school. Since theirmove from Chicago to New York in1966, Mr. and Mrs. deButts havelived in a city apartment. It was mywifes preference, he says. Thechildren were gone, and she reallyenjoys New York. Recently, how-ever, they bought a weekend homein Fairfield, Conn. Pheasant andquail hunting are among my greatloves, says deButts, and have beensince I was 12 years old. He alsolikes fresh-water trout fishing inWisconsin. DeButts has served as nationalchairman of Junior Achievementand on the national executive boardof the Boy Scouts. My basic interestis in young people, he says, andI try to devote as much time as Ican to activities involving youth.
