English: Command of the Ottoman Sultan en:Mahmud II to his Grand Vizier regarding maintaining dams in Istanbul. "My Vizier, the hardship of people due to the water shortage is due to the drought but also because the dams have not be cleaned. I say that to relieve the subjects of their dıstress in my regal city, you should have these dams cleaned. What would be the cost? Investıgate wıth an expert and tell me. I think there must be a hired man for the relıef of these people. Investigate and inform me regarding this subject.
