DescriptionIce House - geograph.org.uk - 1362540.jpg
English: Ice House Northern entrance to the ice house, hidden away in the grounds of Calke Abbey. This was used to store ice taken from the nearby Staunton Harold Reservoir during winter, and would keep it frozen all through the coming summer. It fell into disuse with the onset of modern refrigeration.
