Summary
| Description |
English: The IAU-defined constellations with the twelve signs of the zodiac used in traditional Western (tropical) astrology. Due to precession, the constellations the signs were based on have moved nearly a month eastward from the March equinox from where they were originally defined, around 3,000 to 2,000 years ago. Hence, the traditional sign of Sagittarius overlaps mostly with Scorpio (Scorpius), and also with the neglected constellation of Ophiuchus (the adoption of which in astrology is becoming increasingly popular in the West). Furthermore, while the signs were originally of identical length (30 degrees or two hours), the IAU constellations are not equally sized.
