English: The designer cytokine Hyper-IL-6 is a fusion protein of the soluble Interleukin-6 receptor and Interleukin-6 covalently connected by a 40 Å flexible peptide linker. Hyper-IL-6 was 100-1000 times more active than the combination of the separate proteins Interleukin-6 and soluble Interleukin-6 receptor. A, B, C, D, helices of Interleukin-6; D-II, D-III, domains of the soluble Interleukin-6 receptor, which form the so-called cytokine binding module. |
