Summary

Description
English: Hutton's Unconformity at Newton Shore on the Isle of Arran. This is one of Scotland's foremost geological sites, first observed by geologist James Hutton in the 18th century. Here, younger sandstone rocks dip gently seaward and lie on top of older Cambrian schists which dip steeply inland.
