Summary

Description

Hurricane Gorge is the most impressive bridge on the Alaska Railroad. It's about 300 feet down, and it seems a lot further when all you have is a railroad trestle beneath you.

The train stopped in the middle of the gorge, and the conductor opened the doors of the baggage car and let us file back and hang out the side. Absolutely beautiful, and it was warm enough to be comfortable, too.
