Description
English: Hungary: Vladislaus II of Bohemia and Hungary, medieval ducat (Magyar aranyforint / Hungarian gold forint) gold coin struck in 1491 by the Baia Mare (Nagybánya) mint house in Transylvania. Obverse shows seated figure of crowned Madonna (Mary) and Child surrounded by blessed milk thistles and white eagle symbol of Poland beneath, obverse Latin text reads "WLADISLAV S.R. VNGARIE" (Latin Vladislaus Sanctus rex Ungariae / English Vladislaus Holy King of Hungary). Reverse shows a crowned and nimbate standing figure of Saint Ladislaus I King of Hungary holding a horseman's battle axe and globus cruciger above the below mint mark "n" and mint house (mint master) shield Sas coat of arms of Bartolomeu Drágfi de Beltiug (Hungarian Bertalan Drágffy de Béltek) Voivode of Transylvania, reverse Latin text reads "S. LADISLAVS REX" (Latin Sanctus Ladislaus rex / English Saint Ladislaus King). Coin weight: 3.54gram (Au), coin diameter: 22mm.
