Summary

Description The U.S. Navy battleship USS Iowa (BB-61) passes the burned-out hulk of the light aircraft carrier USS Independence (CVL-22) in San Francisco Bay (USA), July 1947. Independence had been a target ship in the Bikini atom bomb tests the year before. She was later scuttled near the Farallon Islands off the coast of California on 29 January 1951.
