Summary

Description BR Class 52 2,700 hp C-C No.D1015 "Western Champion" at Bristol Temple Meads on a "Festival of the Sea" excursion from Salisbury to Liverpool, 7/08. What an imposing locomotive. The Western Region of British Railways still had a very strong GWR tradition and did things as differently as their predecessor did! Whearas all the other BR regions went for electric transmission for their diesel locomotives and adopted standard designs, the WR went for hydraulic and were highly influenced by German diesel hydraulic designs.
