Summary

Description
English: A British 15-inch howitzer, fondly known as 'Granny', being set up. The gun is surrounded by soldiers, most of whom appear to be involved in the preparation work. There appears to be a pulley or lifting mechanism to the left, possibly for moving the large shells into position. A group of soldiers look on in the background.

The Germans used the phrase 'Gott Strafe England', (God Punish England) during World War I. This caption is probably a play on that. Scenes such as this were commonly used as propaganda, intended to boost morale amongst the troops and provide reassurance to those at home.
[Original reads: 'OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPH TAKEN ON THE BRITISH WESTERN FRONT. Getting "Granny" ready to "strafe" the Germans.']
