Description
English: Painting of the nun Hillegond Gerritsdr, who became a nun in the St Anna cloister of Haarlem ca 1530. She was probably Marten van Heemskerck's sister-in-law. She was a wealthy Catholic and is portrayed with a rosary. When she died she left all of her possessions, including this painting, to the Hofje van Codde and Beresteyn, where it hung for centuries in the regent's room. Now on loan to the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem.
