Hilde Lobauer, a political prisoner at Auschwitz-Birkenau during March 1942 - February 1945, who was recruited by the camp's authorities and worked as an assistant to Dr Fritz Klein. Lobauer became known to other internees as 'the SS woman without uniform.' In March 1945, after a period at Ravensbruck , Lobauer moved to Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp and again worked for the camp staff. This portrait was taken at the request of the War Crimes Tribunal. In November 1945, Hilde Lobauer was convicted of war crimes and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.
