English: Picture taken during a 2013 Arctic study trip to the island of Spitsbergen, Svalbard archipelago, Norway. The trip was sponsored by the University Centre in Svalbard and the Institute for Global Maritime Studies.
The picture was taken close midnight, during the summer time, when the mid-night sun can be seen. (Note that the metadata time stamp for the picture is set for the United States' East Coast Time, which means a six-hour difference to the actual time in Svalbard.) |
