English: Bandar Seri Begawan – On 10th February until 11th February 2018, the Indonesian Embassy in Brunei Darussalam was joining the Higher Education Expo in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam. The Indonesian Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan helped enliven the expo by opening the education stand of Indonesia. Not just being alone, in this event the Embassy invite three universities from Indonesia, namely the State Islamic University Sunan Ampel Surabaya, Hasanuddin University Makassar, and Atmajaya University of Yogyakarta.
Higher Education Expo is the annual event of the Ministry of Education of Brunei Darussalam. The third event was officially opened by the Minister of Education of Brunei Darussalam, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hamzah Bin Haji Sulaiman. Dato Hamzah was also visited all existing stands directly. The Expo aims to add insights and help Brunei Darussalam's students to consult with the destination university and get information about education in that country and abroad. This activity was enlivened by domestic and foreign booths. Stand from Indonesia, Japan, United States, and Australia were also helped to enliven the education stand abroad. For Brunei Darussalam itself , there are stalls from UBD (Universiti Brunei Darussalam), UNISSA Islamic University of Sultan Sharif Ali), UTB (Universiti Teknologi Brunei), KUPU SB (Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan), Laksmana College of Business and IBTE Institute (Brunei Technical Education). The Indonesian stand gives every university the opportunity to promote university through X banners, university profile impressions on TV provided, and consultation desk. In addition, the Indonesian stand provides an opportunity for prospective students to obtain in-depth information about the desired university and the visitors were given the opportunity to conduct direct consultation with representatives from universities who comes from Indonesia. Not only that, visitors also prepared their respective value documents to consult. “During the consultation, visitors generally ask about tuition fees, university education system, equalization process from O' level, scholarship program, and lecture life in Indonesia ", explained Emy Tyartini, SE, MM, as Head of Public Relations and Cooperation of State Islamic University Sunan Ampel Surabaya. The enthusiasm of visitors during the activity is very high. This can be seen from the large number of visitors in the stand to ask for education in Indonesia and consult directly with university representatives. Visitors even contacted the university directly for more information. I was surprised, after the students consulted about the education system applied in Indonesia, they immediately e-mailed us to ask more. What an extraordinary reaction from Brunei students ", said Muhammad Iqbal P, Hd, Director of International Cooperation of Atmajaya University. The Higher Education Expo 2018 runs well from start to finish. The embassy hopes in the future there will be more universities from Indonesia involved in this activity. Thus, cooperation between the two countries can be enhanced by increasing the number of Brunei Darussalam students who studied in Indonesia, and vice versa. |
