Source (WP:NFCC#4) | Original publication: Unknown Immediate source: Fortean Times issue 294 |
Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) | Hexham Heads |
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) | As the article focuses on artifacts - namely, two stone heads of uncertain origin - an illustration of some kind is desirable. |
Not replaceable with free media because (WP:NFCC#1) |
The heads are now lost, and very few images were made; as copies of the heads were later produced, there is dispute as to whether any surviving photographs depict the original items at all. This image, showing drawings by Mary Hurrell, is the only truly reliable image produced when the heads were still accessible. Following the loss of the items, it is obviously impossible to produce another illustration of any measurable accuracy. |
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) | The file is a low-resolution copy of the drawings which will be used on a single article. |
Respect for commercial opportunities (WP:NFCC#2) |
The image relates to a relatively obscure pair of artifacts which are unlikely to be widely covered in commercial media. |
