Rationale; since Herman Wells is no longer alive, new photography can not be created. Any work in existence to depict him is, barring discovery of imagery to the contrary, likely to be copyrighted. Statue is representative of Wells.
Little known fact: The sculptor, a Minnesota graduate, carved the score of the football game between IU and Minnesota in 2000 under the bill of the hat next to Wells. The Golden Gophers were the victors that year.
