---|---|
Author or copyright owner |
Unknown, but probably arranged by the subject's publicist or agent |
Source (WP:NFCC#4) | Original publication: Used extensively in print and online sites describing the subject and his works. Immediate source: http://www.librarything.com/author/tarrherbert |
Date of publication | unknown |
Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) | Herbert Tarr |
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) | for visual identification of the person in question, at the top of his/her biographical article |
Not replaceable with free media because (WP:NFCC#1) |
The subject is deceased and I cannot find any free alternatives. This image appears in numerous sites (online and in print) and is obviously one that was freely given out by the subject and his publicist/agent, with the hope that it would be reprinted and used as extensively as possible, to help publicize the subject and his novels. |
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) | Using only one low-resolution image to illustrate the article. |
Respect for commercial opportunities (WP:NFCC#2) |
As explained above, this is the photo that was evidently widely distributed by the subject and his representatives, with the hope that it be reprinted and used to help publicize the subject and his novels. Using it to enhance a wikipedia article about the subject could only help the commercial opportunities of his estate, not hurt them. |
Other information | The subject of the photograph has been deceased since: 1993 The article describes how this rabbi left the pulpit to write novels that told stories with humor, but carried with them important ideas. He was also known as a humorist through his lectures and speeches. This image, showing him with such a happy look, helps the reader to understand that this was a man who understood how to smile and laugh. It gives "value added" to the article. |
