Description
English: Herbert Cuthbert Levett, born 1867, Barton Fields, Barton Blount, Derbyshire, England, the son of Capt. Charles Richard Levett, 1st King's Dragoon Guards, born in Staffordshire, and Katherine Williams Levett, daughter of Capt. Williams, R.N. Herbert Cuthbert Levett was married to Lucy Barwick, daughter of W. F. Barwick of Lund Head, Filey, North Yorkshire. Levett arrived in New Zealand on the S. S. Orient in 1891, and lived for a time with his brother in the Kiwitea, where he learned sheepfarming. Levett subsequently removed to his 640-acre farm "Fairview," near Beaconsfield, New Zealand, not far from Feilding, named for a family relation.
