Description
English: Henry Allan Roughton May was born on 23 August 1863. A solicitor by profession, he was a member of Minet, May & Co. He was in command of the Artists’ Regiment from 1912 to 1915 and again from 1919 to 1920. He served in the First World War and was mentioned in despatches.

In 1889 he married Fanny Rose Allen, daughter of Thomas Allen of Markshall near Norwich.

In 1929 he published Memories of the Artists Rifles.

Colonel May died on 10 April 1930.
