She is wearing a kahu huruhuru (Māori feather cloak) and a tiki, circa 1920-1933. By this time she was separated from both her husbands: Te Kiri Karamū (left him in 1861) and Denis Stephen Foley (separated c1885). She had six sons and five daughters. She worked as a licensed interpreter at Rotorua and became a secretary of the Women's Christian Temperance Union chpater at Rotorua.
