Summary

Description
English: Aerial view of Henderson High School. Henderson Valley Road crosses the middle ground diagonally, with the railway line running parallel some way beyond, and View Road veering off Railside Avenue into the distance. Henderson High School, in the foreground, was opened in February 1953, and was the first school in New Zealand to be built to the 'Henderson' design, with several standard-sized single-storey classroom blocks fanning out from a central spine (in this case, the administration block). This photograph shows the school as originally constructed, before an additional free-standing block was opened to the left of the main complex in 1956.
