English: Hector Leroux (1829-1900), Sacrifice l'Amour Vengeur, signed "Hector LeROUX" (lower right), oil on canvas, 29½ x 8 in. Auctioned at Christies, London, February 01, 2012. Referring to a study for this painting held at the Musée de la Princerie in Verdun, Colombe Couëlle gives it the title A l'Amour vengeur. Herculanum and dates it to 1879. See pp. 233 and 234 in Couëlle, "Hector Leroux (1829-1900). Un peintre du XIXe voué à l'Antique", Journée de l'Antiquité 2008, April 2008, Université de La Réunion, Saint-Denis, La Réunion.
