Summary

Description
English: This relief of Queen Elizabeth I and her ministers is in the west garden of Hatfield House. William Cecil, Lord Burghley, the Queen's principal minister, is at her immediate left. The Queen is shown as taller than all of her ministers. This which was probably not the case, but is a sign of her importance. This sculpture was originally made for the Royal Exchange. It was acquired for Hatfield House in the 19th century by the second Marquess of Salisbury, who was a descendant of Lord Burghley.
