Description |
Full-length view of the front of a sarcophagus. Mummy case in the form of a mummified man, entirely covered with hieroglyphs and complicated decorations. The crossing red braces denote a priest. The hieroglyphs may be illiterate. Internally depicts a series of gods. Mummy Sarcophagi for an unknown priest. The Mummy Case, highly decorated inside and out, displays the raised hands characteristic of Funerary fashions of the 21st dynasty. Excavated in Thebes, the case is of a very high standard, although the hieroglyphs are indecipherable, and no name has been recovered. Donated by Benjamin Kent in 1969 |
