Devant le hangar en bois d'environ 12 m² où elle naquit vers 1903 à Milwaukee (Wisconsin), avec l'inscription « Harley Davidson Motor Co » sur la porte (ces mots sont gravés au couteau).
Modèle « 0 » ; année 1903 ; monocylindre 4-temps ; cylindrée 400 cm³ ; moteur construit sur le modèle du moteur français De Dion-Bouton ; puissance 3 ch ; 1 rapport ; transmission finale par courroie en cuir.
