Showing Hamilton Road military hospital, Colchester in World War I.

The hospital was housed in Hamilton Road Central School, which was built in 1914 and opened as a school in 1920, then became a secondary modern school in 1944. In 1955 the school moved to Walnut Tree Way, Colchester and was renamed Alderman Blaxill Secondary Modern School. In 1976 it became a comprehensive school. It closed in 2014 after becoming an academy, and was demolished in 2017.
