Taken from a drawing HMS 'Vengeance' in Port Mahon, 26 May 1852 by Captain George Pechell Mends, the brother of William Robert Mends, the captain of Vengeance at the time. The study is inscribed top left, 'Port Mahon- / HMS Vengeance- / May 26th 52 / Capt Lord Edward Russell'.
