HMS Sheffield, a Southampton class cruiser, was built by Vickers Armstrong , on the Tyne, and completed in 1937. During World War II she was involved in the sinking of both the Bismarck and the Scharnhorst, and was employed escorting both Malta and Arctic convoys. She is seen here as flagship of the reserve fleet at Portsmouth in the early sixties, and remained in reserve until being sold for breaking up in 1967.
