Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) | History and naming of human leukocyte antigens |
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) | The article is about the naming of HLAs. This image, from the most recent document detailing how to name HLAs, makes starkly clear the importance of each portion of an HLA name. Such clarity is unable to achieve in a simply textual explanation. |
Not replaceable with free media because (WP:NFCC#1) |
As of yet, I am unable to locate another image that provides this clarity. If I were to reproduce this image, there is very little I could change, since HLA naming is very strict, and this is a visual summation of the naming system prepared by those that wrote the system. Reproduction would essentially be complete plagiarism, and so I thought it much better to credit the original source. |
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) | This image will accompany an original textual description of HLA naming protocol and will only be used a single time. |
Respect for commercial opportunities (WP:NFCC#2) |
This image was produced by a committee of the World Health Organization, with the sole purpose of designing and updating the naming system of human leukocyte antigens. Their purpose is to get this system available to the public and used by researchers. The use of this image serves to do just this, allowing everybody curious about HLA naming to see the system as described by the authors. Propagation of this system is exactly the desire of the authors, as such is the mission of the WHO Nomenclature Committee for Factors of the HLA System |
