Summary

Description A 23-ton cask containing a single fuel element from the Yankee Atomic Electric is lowered into the unloading pool at Nuclear Fuel Services (NFS) reprocessing plant at West Valley, New York. It was the first such shipment to be received at private industry's first nuclear reprocessing plant. Commercial operation of the $28 million NFS project began in January 1966.
