Summary

Description
English: Disciplinary research involves one discipline, whereas multi- and inter-disciplinary research includes several disciplines. Note that the bi-directional arrows depicted in interdisciplinary research represent the collaboration of all disciplines to achieve identified project goals. Transdisciplinary research actively involves different groups of societal actors, for example, tourists, farmers, or fishers. Therefore, co-design, co-evaluation, and co-production are fundamental elements of this approach.
