The commander of 41 Canadian Brigade Group, Colonel Thomas Putt, is using a military entrenching tool to break ground. Among the crowd are soldiers and veterans of the King's Own Calgary Regiment and The Calgary Highlanders. At centre in kilt is the commanding officer of The Calgary Highlanders, Lieutenant-Colonel Mike Vernon. To the right, also in kilt, is Chief Warrant Officer Bob Besse of The Calgary Highlanders. At far left is City Councillor Druh Farrell. |
