Summary

Description
English: A schematic of a watergathering system equipped with a cistern and fed partially by gravity (so 1 pump can be dismissed). The cistern allows to reduce the amount of electricity otherwise required to pump up the water, as the high energy consuming deep well pump does not need to go on and off several times a day and can instead pump up (a larger quantity of) water that can be drawn from the cistern by a smaller (less energy consuming) pump. The electricity gain is possible due to the surge required to pump up the deep water. The schematic is hand-drawn based on a picture from the book "Earthship Volume 2:Systems and components" by Michael Reynolds
