Summary

Description
English: The restored grave slab of Christoph III von Graffenried (1661–1743), who went to North Carolina as a coloniser and founded New Bern there, with a relief of skull and crossbones. It was found by the antiquities service of the canton of Bern in 1983/84 along with 12 other slabs of members of the families von Graffenried and von Diesbach in the nave of the reformed church building of Worb. The former floor slabs have been exhibited on a wall close to the church since then.
Deutsch: Die restaurierte Grabplatte von Christoph III von Graffenried (1661–1743), der als Kolonialist in North Carolina die Stadt New Bern gründete, mit dem Relief eines Totenschädels und gekreuzter Knochen. Sie wurde vom Archäologischen Dienst des Kantons Bern bei der Restaurierung der Reformierten Kirche von Worb 1983/84 mit 12 Grabplatten von Familienangehörigen der von Graffenrieds und von Diesbachs im Kirchenschiff gefunden. Die früheren Bodenplatten sind seither an der Mauer unterhalb der Kirche aufgestellt.
