Description
English: Side view of the historic Alex Theatre which was built in 1925 and is located at located at 216 North Brand Boulevard in Glendale, California. Originally it was named the " Alexander" after Alexander Langley, the son of C.L. Langley, owner of the West Coast chain that included the Raymond Theater in Pasadena. It featured vaudeville performances, plays and silent movies on a single screen. The theatre has a 100-foot-tall (30 m) art-deco column with neon lights, topped by a spiked, neon sphere that gives it a "starburst" appearance. The theatre was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 16, 1996 reference #96000102
