DescriptionGlandyfi railway station geograph-2511280-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg
English: Down 'Cambrian Coast Express' at Glandyfi.
View NE, towards Dovey Junction, Machynlleth, Welshpool etc.; ex-Cambrian main line, Whitchurch - Oswestry - Welshpool - Machynlleth - Aberystwyth. The line has remained open, but the station was closed 14/6/65. This celebrated express left Paddington at 10.10 and ran via Birmingham (Snow Hill), Shrewsbury (reverse), Welshpool and Machynlleth, where it split into Pwllheli and Aberystwyth portions, the latter arriving at its destination at 16.05. It ceased to run after March 1967, hauled by 'Manors' almost to the last, but was restored later running from Euston. The locomotive here is 4-6-0 No. 7823 'Hook Norton Manor' (built 12/50, withdrawn 7/64). An up train is at the opposite platform, heading for Dovey Junction up the estuary
