English: Gideonmantellia is a basal ornithopod dinosaur known from the Early Cretaceous of Spain. The name of the genus honors Gideon Mantell, the describer of Hypsilophodon, which Gideonmantellia was originally thought to be. Like other ornithopods, it was herbivorous, and had a beak at the front of the mouth and teeth in the back, to process the vegetation it ate. Gideonmantellia was bipedal and grew to just over 1 m in length, and 2 kg in body mass.
